All Star! Honus Wagner and the Most Famous Baseball Card Ever

by Jane Yolen Illustrated by Jim Burke

This is a great biography about one of the first players to even be inducted into the baseball hall of fame and whose rare original baseball card sold for almost 3 million dollars! Honus Wagner started as a coal miner as a boy and ended up one of the best baseball players of all time.  He played most famously for the Pittsburgh Pirates.  Read about how his love for the game and extra long arms helped him achieve his dreams!

Diary of a Wimpy Kid - Cabin Fever

by Jeff Kinney I was so lucky to get the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid book in right before Thanksgiving and it wasn't quite ready for the shelf so I brought it home to read it.  It was a great day to start my Thanksgiving.  It's another fun story about Greg Hefley and his diary of some time in the winter.  My favorite part was when he used mascara to paint a 6-pack on his tummy to look like he did lots of sit-ups.  What was your favorite part?

The Invention of Hugo Cabret

The Lightning Thief

by Rick Riordan The first in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series is pretty good. It mixes a current story with ancient greek mythology. I was never a fan of mythology, but this story kept me reading until the end. I enjoyed the twists and turns and would recommend it to any age 3rd grade and up!
