Review: The Klipfish Code

The Klipfish Code
The Klipfish Code by Mary Casanova

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I am not usually a fan about stories that take place during war time, but this book about Norway during World War 2 was so interesting and moving. It felt so real to read and it made me wonder what it was like to be in Sweden during that time since my family lived there, so close to Norway. I hear so many stories of what it was like in Germany or Austria, but this was the first story I had read about Norway. I was also able to meet the Author and she spoke of how she did the research for this book by visiting museums in Norway and having deep conversations with people who were alive and living there during that time. I think this is a great perspective of War and I look forward to talking with kids about their thoughts while reading it.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid - Cabin Fever

by Jeff Kinney I was so lucky to get the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid book in right before Thanksgiving and it wasn't quite ready for the shelf so I brought it home to read it.  It was a great day to start my Thanksgiving.  It's another fun story about Greg Hefley and his diary of some time in the winter.  My favorite part was when he used mascara to paint a 6-pack on his tummy to look like he did lots of sit-ups.  What was your favorite part?

The Invention of Hugo Cabret

The Lightning Thief

by Rick Riordan The first in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series is pretty good. It mixes a current story with ancient greek mythology. I was never a fan of mythology, but this story kept me reading until the end. I enjoyed the twists and turns and would recommend it to any age 3rd grade and up!
