Review: Breadcrumbs

Breadcrumbs by Anne Ursu My rating: 4 of 5 stars I'm not really a fantasy fan in general, but I liked how it alternated from realistic to fantasy with different chapters at the beginning. I was hooked to see what happens all the way through, but the ending was a let down. I was hoping for more explanation or a slightly longer resolution. I think my students will like it, though and I'm interested to see what other fantasy fans thought. View all my reviews

Review: Cinder

Cinder by Marissa Meyer My rating: 4 of 5 stars I didn't think I would like this, but the complex world Meyer creates is enchanting. I wanted to keep reading because there are so many layers to this and I want to know how everything is connected. There are so many different parts to this, but it wasn't confusing. However, summarizing this book is very hard. If you like the current dystopian genre, this one will not disappoint. View all my reviews

Review: Sylvia & Aki

Sylvia & Aki by Winifred Conkling My rating: 3 of 5 stars I knew a lot about the integration of schools from the black Americans point of view, but not from the Mexican. I also knew a little about the Japanese Internment camps, but now I know a lot more. I didn't realize this was based on a true story and 2 real girls until I was halfway through the book. It made me like it even more. View all my reviews

Review: Benjamin Franklinstein Lives!

Benjamin Franklinstein Lives! by Matthew McElligott My rating: 3 of 5 stars I am excited to recommend this to the 3rd and 4th graders as a first selection to the MHL nominees for '14-'15. It's funny science-fiction that I think will get more check outs in the funny section. It was especially funny to imagine the scene with too many Benjamin Franklin's! View all my reviews
