Review: Raymie Nightengale

Raymie NightingaleRaymie Nightingale by Kate DiCamillo
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was the first book "for work" that I had read in a long time. - too long. It's usually a safe choice to go with Kate DiCamillo. I was hooked right away! I wanted to know how things would work out with Raymie in the first few pages -an soon the Three Rancheros captured my interest, too. This book didn't turn out like I thought, but I loved the way the story turned and twisted. I am very excited to recommend this to my intermediate students this fall!

Diary of a Wimpy Kid - Cabin Fever

by Jeff Kinney I was so lucky to get the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid book in right before Thanksgiving and it wasn't quite ready for the shelf so I brought it home to read it.  It was a great day to start my Thanksgiving.  It's another fun story about Greg Hefley and his diary of some time in the winter.  My favorite part was when he used mascara to paint a 6-pack on his tummy to look like he did lots of sit-ups.  What was your favorite part?

The Invention of Hugo Cabret

The Lightning Thief

by Rick Riordan The first in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series is pretty good. It mixes a current story with ancient greek mythology. I was never a fan of mythology, but this story kept me reading until the end. I enjoyed the twists and turns and would recommend it to any age 3rd grade and up!
