Review: The Exact Location of Home

The Exact Location of Home The Exact Location of Home by Kate Messner
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The ending: chefs kiss.

A book to humanize kids and families in a homeless shelter with a story that keeps you reading all the way through.

Should appeal to both boys and girls as the main character is a boy who loves gadgets and science- but there's also so much heart.

It's set in Middle School, but the story and reading level feels nice for many levels of readers 5-8th grade. 4th graders and mature voratious 3rd graders could be ok, IMO can read it too- but they might not really connect with the story or characters just yet.

Adults, parents, and teachers- definitely! This is a good one!

Diary of a Wimpy Kid - Cabin Fever

by Jeff Kinney I was so lucky to get the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid book in right before Thanksgiving and it wasn't quite ready for the shelf so I brought it home to read it.  It was a great day to start my Thanksgiving.  It's another fun story about Greg Hefley and his diary of some time in the winter.  My favorite part was when he used mascara to paint a 6-pack on his tummy to look like he did lots of sit-ups.  What was your favorite part?

The Lightning Thief

by Rick Riordan The first in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series is pretty good. It mixes a current story with ancient greek mythology. I was never a fan of mythology, but this story kept me reading until the end. I enjoyed the twists and turns and would recommend it to any age 3rd grade and up!
