Not for kids ya’ll! 

This book reminds me why I teach kids to love reading and try genres they may not love. Fantasy is not my favorite. Usually I step away from it, however - this dragon filled story leans toward sci-fi & dystopian with serious Hunger Games vibes. My friends also compare it to Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. The adult scenes in here are steamy and I (mostly) race through them to see if our lead dragon heroine team is going to make it in this twisted world of power, violence, and secrets.

by Jeff Kinney I was so lucky to get the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid book in right before Thanksgiving and it wasn't quite ready for the shelf so I brought it home to read it.  It was a great day to start my Thanksgiving.  It's another fun story about Greg Hefley and his diary of some time in the winter.  My favorite part was when he used mascara to paint a 6-pack on his tummy to look like he did lots of sit-ups.  What was your favorite part?

The Lightning Thief

by Rick Riordan The first in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series is pretty good. It mixes a current story with ancient greek mythology. I was never a fan of mythology, but this story kept me reading until the end. I enjoyed the twists and turns and would recommend it to any age 3rd grade and up!

Review: Xander's Panda Party

Xander's Panda Party by Linda Sue Park My rating: 4 of 5 stars How cute is this! I want to have a panda party!! And it was also nice to review the different types of animals, reptiles, birds, amphibians and how they are a bit different. I think many students will enjoy this book. View all my reviews
